Hide and Seek, Beloved

Hide and Seek, Beloved

I feel you in the misty morning, when the sun is not quite up
and I see you in the sleeping face of my child.

I feel you smiling to me in walls, in the trees, in the air I breathe,
and I feel you out in nature wild,

and untamed, human's opinionated domain unproclaimed.
I see you in the glow, the shine of eyes of radiant beings I know.

I see you lost and hiding, like in a deep and twisted cave,
within the shady forms of slouching figures,
beings not yet awake,
but fittfully, angrily sleeping
and cursing you with their pain.

You are not one figure,
you are natural and free..
I see you as the fabric of reality.

When I forget you are there, the world is harder and more jagged,
then I remember and you are still smiling, as if I never forgot.

You are the Soul of which each Soul is a fragment,
and tell me, do my cells contemplate me,
the way we,
contemplate you?

I have a hard time finding you in monuments and books,
other then the passages that pass my eyes
and hit me deep..
then I hear You telling me, the wisdom that I seek..

but you speak in whispers,
in songs stuck in my head,
you speak in inner-rightness,
through inspiration you have led,
me on a wondrous path.

And I believe whole-heartedly,
that all is as its meant to be...

that each suffering reveals more truth,
the deeper freedom after integration is the proof...

that truth, love and delight are why we are here,
as cells of your body, we appear and disappear,
and you are playing hide-and-seek..
Lila,
all is lila,

so EVERYTHING is sacred, yes,
and strive we must, yet we are blessed,
because everything is a purposeful unfolding
of Your loving consciousness through our own living,
and learning by trial-and-error,
and that joy comes from giving,
that over and over,
love is the way,
and yes, its ALL sacred,
but this is all just your play.

To Give of Thyself, You Must Take Care of Thyself

Once again, the important lesson is in self-care. No matter how much we love, if we drain ourselves with improper care, we undermine our ability to fulfil our duties to those we love and who depend on us. As a mother, I have become completely accountable to my child for any lapse in my self-care. Its not selfishness that demands I am balanced and whole, but the love for my son and desire to be the best, most patient mother available to him. I am not my own but his. My father, bravely battling cancer, needs my best when I see him. My boyfriend, an incredible man of honor, duty, respect, devotion, and love, deserves every bit of my loving heart and joyous freedom. My students, who honor me with their esteem, deserve the best of me, it is my duty and life's work to serve them.

I have learned that getting enough time in the present with my son, keeping the house neat, getting outside as much as we are capable of, and eating 100% or nearly 100% raw vegan foods, pure water, and lots of kombucha help me to feel my best. Plenty of sleep, adequate time to myself and creative expression are also crucial. Daily yoga goes without saying, although for some a vigorous workout or other fitness activity clears mind and energy and strengthens the body in the right ways to facilitate openness and wholeness.

Knowing myself to the point of being able to "put myself together"- a long, meditative shower, dressing in a way that feels comfortable and beautiful, fixing my hair and make-up- not because I hide behind these things, but because they feel right as expressions of my essential Self- is also crucial.

Allowing enough time and allowing daily rhythms to restructure for the changes in seasons and changes in life and energy are necessary as well.

It comes down to clearing and balancing and putting everything in, on, and around you into harmony with your inner sense of rightness, a.k.a. Heart, a.k.a. Conscience. Deep Honesty.. The truth.. The deepest, most subtle truth you can hear. Always heed that, and you will clear your life of all falseness and heaviness and manifest light and rightness in all ways.

Sacrifice and compromise that doesn't go against your inner truth is part of the process of love.. But if we ignore or conscience saying no, and say yes, at some point we will pay for that lie. Satya, Deep Honesty, is crucial as the inner navigation system. It helps you to hear "the still, small voice" if you keep your mind and energy and body well and balanced.

In order to be your best to have the most positive impact on this world, take care of your needs. Teach your children to take care of their needs through example, as I also teach my students. If I didn't take good care of me, I have no grounds on which to tell them to. I would be a hypocrite, and not well respected. People value integrity, when the thoughts, words, and actions are all in harmony, there is peace and joy in your heart, and that shows in your every movement. Integrity cannot be faked. Seek it, work at it, embody it, for the benefit of your most cherished loved ones, and the sake of all you meet.

It is as they say in the airplane.. Put your oxygen mask on first, THEN you can help many, many others with theirs.

Namaste.

The Beloved

The Beloved

By Laura Harrison

*written in honor of Shyamdas.. A bhavish fellow after my own heart.

You don't have to look to far to see the face of God,
All of Existence is the Face we long to see,

You can't get to the Divine by bypassing the everyday world,
The way is through reality.

In denial of the trials and errs were make,
In throwing away the body, in discarding all desire,
Its the means to the end we seek that we forsake,
How can there be just one path to take?
When that which we seek is omniscient,
omnipotent,
omnipresent?

How can we need a mediator to go between,
Ourselves and the fabric of all that is,
When the same Divine spark is in all that's seen,
All that exists is God...

Breathe, feel and release,
And know that when you kiss your lover,
You are kissing the Beloved,
Beloved loving Itself through Itself,
All is Self, with a capital S,
All distress can be released,
When you trust in the vinyasa of reality,
Like carefully arranged designs created by your desire,
So focus your creative fire,
Embody the vibration of what you want to be,
Focus and feeling state of love, peace and the holy,

The Beloved is smiling at you through everything you see,
Human, animal, inanimate object, rock and tree,
God is the loving-consciousness-fabric of reality,

And the Beloved is the one pulling the strings,
animating breath of conscious underlying everything,
So in your eyes let love's light ring,
And don't deny the sacredness of anything,
But if you take it too seriously your missing..
The point
Is
That
All
we
Are
Is
One.

One playful deity
Dividing into many
In order to experience everything,
To give and receive,
Love, serve, and honor,
To forget,
To remember,
To enjoy being together.

So remember when you kiss your child's face,
Or when experiencing times you wish to erase,
When friends, full of grace,
When Lovers embrace,
When chaos will chase,
Or everything's in its place,
It is all the lila of God.
